All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children.
They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

She received her B.A. in Drama and Psychology from The University of Virginia and co-founded an a capella singing group called The Virginia Sil’hooettes. She then moved to Seattle and earned her Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from The University of Washington and hence moved to New York City to pursue a career in singing and performing. Jo Ellen worked as an actress for several years before shifting her interest to family life and was thrilled when she began attending Music Together classes with her 6 month old son in September of 2002. She later moved back to Richmond (July 2003) and has enjoyed taking classes with her three children and her Music Together Mentor, the talented Lisa Khoury. Jo Ellen is excited to be facilitating this terrific and diverse program and relishes the sharing of the joy of music with both children and adults. She loves the Music Together program so much that you might overhear her in the Doctor’s office waiting area singing with her kids “Two Little Blackbirds” or consoling a child with a humorous chant like “I’m Hiding.” Jo Ellen is grateful for the opportunity to share this music with Richmond area families and is honored to be working so closely with Lisa. She thanks her husband Robert for his support and Austin, Wyatt and Adriana for their willingness to sing with her! And thanks Mom for babysitting!

Stacey Daub
B.S. in Psychology, Virginia Commonwealth University M.T. in Teaching, Virginia Commonwealth University
I have always had a love for music. I grew up singing in church, school, local shows, and basically anywhere that I could. I dabbled in the piano when I was in elementary school, but I have always preferred learning songs by ear so-to-speak. Throughout school, I performed in All-County, All-District, and All-State Choirs. When I entered the classroom as a teacher in 2003, it's no surprise that I did what I could to incorporate music and singing into my instruction. I taught 3rd and 4th grade for 8 years, and only left the classroom to spend some time with my own two girls, ages 5 and 3. Lisa Khoury is a long-time family friend, so of course we began Music Together with Lisa as soon as my first child was old enough! My daughters have benefited from Music Together with Lisa for 5 years. Just this past spring, I was fortunate enough to be sent to Music Together training. I am very grateful to Lisa Khoury and Emily Boddy, the Preschool Ministry Director of 2nd Baptist, for funding my training. I currently work part-time as a PRIME teacher for River's Edge Elementary School. I am also a private tutor, and I teach homebound students for HCPS. In addition, I'm very excited to be a part of the music program at my own church, 2nd Baptist. I sing in the sactuary choir, help in our Wee Praise music program for ages newborn to 2-years, and assistant direct our kindergarden choir. I am very blessed to have the best of both worlds. I get to teach, sing, and spend time with my girls!
